POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer NPI. (TCP/Overlay)
Reports To: Assistant Manager, Mechanical Engineering
Location: Shenzhen, China
Status: Exempt
Date: Feb. 2017
General Responsibilities:
Based out of Belkin International’s offices in Shenzhen, China, the Senior Mechanical Engineer NPI will be responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) transition, second sourcing, cost reduction, and sustaining efforts. Provide local technical interface between Belkin’s US based Mechanical Engineering team and Asian supplier base through out the development cycle and then completely own and manage Product Acceptance and Production phases. Work closely with tooling vendors, Glass machining vendors, OEM/ODM vendors, Asia-based Belkin QA/QC, Sourcing and Purchasing teams, as well as US-based Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers and Product Managers to ensure quality, BOM cost, and schedule objectives are met.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Review design and provide constructive feedback to US and China based Mechanical Engineering, NPD team, Mainly for Screen Protective Film and its application machines.
· Manage Mechanical BOM and ECO updates through the use of Agile (PLM).
· Responsible for coordinating quotation packages, parts, tooling, testing and verification of product requirements.
· Participate in supplier qualification, audit and vendor selection.
· Conduct DFA, DFM, tooling, fixture, DVT, PVT, production process review, golden sample sign off, product pilot run support and PPAP approval.
· Production issues root cause analysis and apply design corrections as needed.
· Proactively seeks for cost reduction opportunities. Propose, design, and phase-in changes with no impact to ongoing production.
· Assist with documentation modification, including product specifications, work instructions, test plans and other documented attributes of the product.
· The ability to manage new and unique situations with minimal supervision.
· There is approximately a 40% domestic (Southern China) travel required.
· Occasional travel to US, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan maybe required
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor degree, major in Mechanical Engineering, Material engineering……
· Minimum 8 years related work experience in design, fabrication and qualification required in high volume consumer products……
· Be experienced with PET and Tempered glass screen protective film related product requirement and production process……
· Good understanding and experience with plastic finishing, decorating, sonic welding, hard coating and other secondary operation.
· Strong knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes including glass machining process, fixture, stamping tooling and rapid prototyping.
· Must have strong attention to detail, enjoy "hands-on" troubleshooting, and have the ability to update Pro-E 3D models and 2D documentation.
· At least 4 years’ experience of Pro Engineer, Pro Surface and ISDX experience preferred.
· Hands on experience in a fast paced and high quality manufacturing environment with a good working understanding of high volume manufacturing process is preferred.
· Knowledge in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP - gage R&R, FAI, cpk, control plan).

· Analytical and/or numerical engineering analysis, including FMEA, tolerance stack-up, DOE, and CMF experience preferred.
· Good problem solving skills especially in relation to trouble shooting glass machining, aesthetic defects, part failure, processing issues, etc. as well as knowledge of materials and production methods.
· Strong planning, scheduling, and presentation skills
· Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written) with the product development teams in the USA.
· Program management experience is a plus.
· Be positive and active, self-motivated personality, Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
· Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint experience a must.
